Hopefully you have been able to see an energy shift in your life as you have made the time to consciously choose positive videos and books, daily affirmations, healthier habits, and meditation. It takes consistency and time to create real change. But in addition to making these improvements, you need to assess the amount of negative that is coming into your life. If the negative outweighs all of the positive you are adding, you will still experience negative results.
The People Around Us
One very important area where we pick up a lot of our internal programming is the people around us. We cannot always control who we live or work with. When we can, we should choose to surround ourselves with uplifting people, but when that is not possible we have to work extra hard to fill our lives with positive programming.
Daily News
The news is another area where we pick up a lot of negative emotion. Rather than watch hours of people ranting their opinions about events, you can subscribe to consolidated versions of the news sent right to your email. I like these two sources:
Media and Entertainment
We can choose the books we read, music we listen to, social media we view, and movies we watch. A lot of media and entertainment is negative. Pay attention to the lyrics of your music. Failed relationships seem to take up the major portion. Movies are full of murder and violence and unrealistic portrayals of unattainable beauty. Social media is filled with the same absurdly impossible perfection, and then the comments are often spewing vicious or mocking hatred. I am not saying stay completely away from these things. Just gauge how much of your time is spent on these things, and choose the more positive entertainment when possible. Here are a couple of positive books I recommend to add to your book list:
Mentors
As you reprogram your mind toward emotional health and well-being, here is a list of mentors, all from Jamie Kern Lima’s 2021 Unstoppable event, to look to (feel free to post more names in the comments). Listen to their podcasts or speeches, read their books, if you get a chance, make that investment in yourself to attend one of their in-person or online events. Even better, gift someone else with the event and go together.
