We have been working on habits that improve all areas of our life to help us grow and have a sense of well-being. One area we are working on is our emotional health. Our emotions are actually a sign of what is going on with our mindset. Part of our brain is a rational, learning machine. Another part is a program that constantly sorts through input and from this tells us who we are and how things are going. It is a part that we generally run on auto-pilot. We let the world around us control our input and we experience our emotions as the output.
Everything in our lives is connected to this program, which is why we have to work on our physical and spiritual health, our home environment, our relationships, etc. But we can also directly control a lot of the input we take in each day. That is why we have started the habit of listening to motivational videos each day. We are going to add more habits over time that are purposefully creating positive messaging in your mind.
Today we are going to add affirmations as our new habit.
You can create your own affirmations and repeat them each day, or there are a lot of Youtube videos that have wonderful affirmations. I like the videos because it can help convince the mind when it hears someone else say it and then you repeat it.
This is a wonderful video for getting started. I recommend you subscribe to Bob Baker’s channel and go through some of his other videos as well. He also has a very uplifting Sunday morning show he does with Pooki Lee.
New Habit:
- Pick a time to listen to affirmations each day. These are really great to listen to first thing in the morning to set a bright tone to your day.
Journal: Write down some of your own affirmations. Write about how listening to affirmations affects your emotional state.
